- Enthusiastic about import/export processes and supply chain operations in a global environment.
- Knowledge of customs and trade compliance including classification, valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements, anti-dumping, surtax, and other customs related topics.
- Strong interest in Canada and US regulatory requirements and compliance.
- Eager to learn and willingness to know “Why”.
- Strong detailed, analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills to find new and creative ways for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Proactive in taking leadership to develop new solutions and optimize existing ones.
- Strong organizational, structured way of working, and interpersonal skills. Able to quickly understand and clearly communicate complex topics.
- Abie to organize and manage daily assignments and tasks according to priority and deadlines.
- Excellent personal computer skills and expertise in Microsoft Excel. Uses features and formulas that eliminate or reduce redundancy.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Key responsibilities (title) Your responsibilitiesKey responsibilities (text) • Responsible to secure compliance in every customs declaration and to identify and investigate and act to resolve inaccuracies and deviations, including submission of entry corrections and adjustments.
- Responsible for handling of information and documents with internal stakeholders, external service providers and authorities to ensure timely, accurate and compliant declarations for imports and exports.
- Responsible to maintain master data for filing relevant declarations with appropriate authorities and to update standard operating procedures for assigned tasks.
- Responsible to share and maintain relevant customs knowledge, collaborating with co-workers to share insights.
- Developing and securing strategic partnerships internally and externally that drive change and secure compliance.
- Secure payment reconciliation process to ensure duty and external provider charges are reconciled to entries submitted and external service provider agreements.
- Secure that import and export processes are anchored with excellence in operations and a culture of compliance that supports strategic goals within the global customs organization and aligned with IKEA vision, strategies, and directives.
