JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Data Developer.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data & Artificial Intelligence, this position is responsible to play a key role in developing, optimizing, and maintaining data infrastructure and solutions that drive analytics capabilities. This includes ensuring data quality, integrating data from various systems, and supporting business insights through innovative technical solutions.

*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES *

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data solutions to support analytics initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain strong practices on data rigor to ensure trust, accuracy, and transparency in our data.

  • Collaborate with analysts and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specifications.

  • Collaborate with BI engineers, data engineers, product managers and data analysts to assist with data-related technical issues, migrations, upgrades and infrastructure needs.

  • Develop and optimize ETL processes, ensuring data quality and efficiency.

  • Implement and maintain database systems for optimal performance and reliability.

  • Develop custom analytics tools and applications to facilitate data analysis.

  • Integrate data from various sources and systems to support comprehensive analytics.

  • Stay abreast of the latest industry trends in data development and analytics technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Over 4 years of proven experience of working in a data-science adjacent role, or developing data assets using SQL and Python is a requirement.

  • Professional experience working on data teams as either a data engineer, data analyst, or data scientist.

  • Professional experience in data development, with a focus on analytics.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages.

  • Strong experience with database design, data modeling, and ETL processes.

  • Ability to work independently, with attention to detail.

  • Strong decision-making skills, problem resolution, negotiation, and decision-making skills.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
