Data EngineerJob Type: Contract/Perm (Open)
Primary Location: Toronto or Montreal – 2 days onsite per weekWe currently have an opportunity for a Data Engineer, supporting a partner in Insurance sector. Client is expanding the team, and the successful resource will help with supporting team and taking on day to day responsibilities.Job Requirements:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient data pipelines and ETL processes
• Build and deploy data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows
• Implement data quality checks, observability, and error-handling mechanisms
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and architects to define technical solutions
• Work with distributed data systems (Spark, Databricks) and cloud infrastructure (AWS)
• Write clean, modular, production-ready code in Python
• Ensure CI/CD practices, version control, and infrastructure-as-code where relevant
• Optimize performance of jobs, queries, and storage for large data volumes
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve pipeline reliability

Candidate requirements: Must-haves (3-5 max):

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles in complex environments
• Proven skills in Python programming (clean code, packaging, testing)
• Strong experience with Spark and Databricks
• Experience building pipelines from scratch in production environments

Nice to have:

• 1-2 years on Snowflake or/and Databricks management is highly recommended
• Experience with streaming pipelines (Kafka, Spark Streaming, etc.)
• Familiarity with Terraform or other IaC tools

Tools / software / methodology / certification: Spark, Python, AWS, Snowflake, Databricks
