The Group Benefits Product Data Analytics team is a diverse team that is responsible for providing accurate data, visualization, and prescriptive analytics across the Group Benefits organization and our customers.
The Data Engineer will play a key role by building certified data pipelines and views to be consumed by other business areas and visualization layers and will encompass an end-to-end view from data sourcing, lineage, quality, transformation, and storage.
Responsibilities:
Engage with business partners to comprehend their data, metrics, and insights needs.
Locating the data required to fulfill the data needs – be it in systems of origin or systems of reference (such as the GB Data Lake)
Develop business use cases, translation of business problem/requirements into analytics tasks and work on development of conceptual prototypes and mock-ups of analytics solutions.
Ability to interact with business on explaining analytics solution and communicating analytics insights.
Implement Development and Integration activities (planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and post implementation support) of existing and new data and visualization technologies.
Continue to improve and advance our team’s current data & reporting platform.
Build container-based solutions, pipelines, APIs and analytics portal for heterogeneous data sources on internal data lakes or cloud platforms and prepare data to be used for diagnostic/descriptive reporting and data work.
Collaborate with Process Engineers and Business Stakeholders to develop data pipelines and assist with prescriptive analytics through consolidated data.
Identify and resolve data movement/transformation/processing bottlenecks.
Stay updated on emerging Data and Visualization technologies trends/standard processes and propose solutions for Technology and Business partners.
Collaborate with collaborators and analysts to detail and validate data sources to expand existing data marts and warehouses.
Build, test, and maintain data pipelines with focus in continuous integration and fault tolerant ETL processes.
Maintain/improve our PowerBI / SSAS datasets and SSRS/SSIS Solutions.
What we are looking for?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related technical programs.
5+ years of data engineering experience in related industry working with enterprise data.
5+ years of advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
5+ years of experience in design, testing and implementing ETLs and building data pipelines, harmonizing raw data into a consumer-friendly format using Azure stack and Azure Databricks.
Advance knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI
Experience building data ingestion pipelines using Azure Data Factory to ingest structured and unstructured data.
Proven experience on data processing by using SQL, Pyspark, Python or similar open source and commercial technologies.
Proficiency in data processing frameworks and techniques such as Azure, Hortonworks, Spark, Hive.
Experience with Cloud technologies: OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes and knowledge of AWS, GCP, Azure and Sagemaker, and security considerations for cloud.

Salary range is expected to be between
$75,880.00 CAD – $140,920.00 CAD
