DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
TD Wealth Shared Services Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain, and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank’s risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation – across all Wealth Canada businesses – of all data risk controls, data management and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth Shared Services G&C team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth Canada businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth Canada business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Wealth-wide G&C methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise projects / programs requiring Wealth representation.
We operate in a hybrid model, meaning in the office two days a week and have flexibility to work remotely (if you choose) for the remainder week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Wealth Shared Services, the Data Steward, Manager position will be responsible for supporting all TD Wealth Canada businesses in adherence to TD enterprise, providing data governance expertise and oversight on data-related activities and play a key role in supporting Wealth’s data management strategy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provide Wealth Business with framework and guidance on identification of critical data and critical data elements.
Act as a strategic partner by leading relationships with key enterprise partners and interfacing with respective leadership team to effectively manage own data governance area and clarify scope of accountabilities while influencing and aligning others as needed.
Lead the governance and oversight of Wealth data management activities, including metadata, data quality, data retention and disposition tasks.
Lead the oversight of data issue resolution and drive data issue governance processes within Wealth, supporting an enterprise view while encouraging shared solutions of common data challenges.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the data governance / management function and play a key role in the development and implementation of strategies in support of the overall Wealth and Enterprise data strategy.
Plan, lead / manage and/or oversee a diverse set of business data governance and control work activities requiring alignment / coordination across multiple areas, including projects policies / processes / procedures / changes in across multiple functional areas.
Support the identification of business data owners and business data SMEs and ensure Wealth’s adherence to enterprise data policies and standards.
Lead the socialization and training of Wealth data governance and data management community on data policies, procedures, tools, and templates.
Partner with the Wealth business to proactively prepare for internal / regulatory data-related requests.
Develop processes to create timely, complete and accurate reporting to inform on areas of increasing data risk.
Ensure Wealth business follow applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations.
Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team.
Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities
Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.
Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications/Skills/Experience/Education
The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of prior experience in financial services and have related experience in the Wealth business, regulatory environment, data management, governance, and controls, as well as working in a project environment or delivering initiatives.
Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
Highly seasoned professional with expertise and knowledge of the broader data governance and data management standards
Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders.
Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise Strong interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, effectively interact, influence, and motivate individuals at all levels of the organization to make an impact.
Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.
Logical and strategic thinker with strong critical reasoning skills and knowledgeable of the Wealth businesses, processes, systems and controls
Ability to exercise good judgement in making decisions and consistently exercise discretion in managing information.
Ability to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment and prioritize competing priorities.
