The School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS) at Ontario Tech University is dedicated to the delivery of vibrant, relevant programming and research that prepares students to meet evolving global needs. Within this exciting context, Ontario Tech University seeks a Dean of the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (SGPS). Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will provide strategic leadership of the School to enhance and advance graduate and postdoctoral programs, policies, and initiatives, delivering a unique and impactful learning experience for Ontario Tech students. Through an on-campus, engaging leadership approach, the new Dean will focus on leading strategies to promote program quality and supervision, bolster enrolment and retention, improve research success and impact, and will develop and foster a shared vision for members of SGPS. The new Dean will engage with campus and external partners to develop and implement a strategic plan aligned with the University’s Integrated Academic-Research Plan 2023-2028, delivering a cogent campus-wide vision of graduate education at Ontario Tech that harnesses its unique institutional potential.

The ideal candidate for this role will hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field and will be eligible for appointment at the rank of Full Professor. To achieve success in the role, they will bring a record of visionary and strategic graduate studies leadership and a passion for graduate programs, supervision, mentorship, and research. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to collaboration, respect, equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation, while also excelling in communication, relationship-building, including partnerships, and team leadership. They will be adept at navigating and establishing graduate education related policies, procedures, and resource and space planning congruent with a culture of student success and in direct alignment with the University’s mission and vision. Experience in a unionized environment and the ability to develop strategic internal and external partnerships are also essential.
