Department of Sociology – Tenure Track Appointment

The Department of Sociology invites applications for a probationary, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The start date is as early as July 1, 2025. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Applications are sought from candidates who have completed a PhD in Sociology or a related field or are close to completion (ABD) and have expertise in one or more of the department’s current priority areas:

Gender and/or Sexualities
Social Movements
Social Policy and the State
The applicant’s research may be situated in any subfield of the discipline. Candidates will be invited to teach existing courses as well as develop new courses that reflect their area/s of research specialization.

The Department of Sociology was established at StFX in the 1960s. The department has an exceptional culture of collegiality and cooperation that nurtures its members in innovative research and creative teaching.
