About the team

This role is part of Mambu’s legal & Compliance team, whose mission is to provide expert legal and regulatory advice to Mambu teams globally, ensure compliance with laws, and address and mitigate risks.

What you’ll do

The Legal Director – Commercial and Technology is a senior-level lawyer reporting to the General Counsel, responsible for overseeing all commercial and technology-related legal matters for the company. This role will provide strategic legal advice to the business, negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements, manage a team of legal counsels, and stay up-to-date on the latest legal developments.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the team of commercial lawyers to achieve team goals and support Mambu’s vision.
• Provide legal advice to the business on a wide range of commercial matters, including legal assessments of GTM strategies and new market entries.
• Lead collaboration with Product and Engineering, provide guidance in relation to new products and product lines.
• Negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements, including master services agreements with customers, partnership agreements and vendor agreements.
• Be accountable for maintaining and improving standard contract templates, ensuring that our contract templates comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Be accountable for maintaining and improving contract negotiation and contract management processes, including use of legaltech.
• Manage legal aspects of disputes and actual or potential litigation proceedings.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest legal developments in the commercial and technology sectors.
• Manage outside counsel relationships and ensure that legal services are provided efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Be accountable for providing training and education to employees on legal issues.
• Support certain aspects of corporate governance and management of corporate affairs of Mambu group entities.
• Assist with other legal and compliance projects as required by the business.

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years PQE experience, with legal experience in a high-growth technology company with an emphasis on Cloud/SaaS software.
• Demonstrated history of success with experience in the following at a minimum: commercial contracts negotiation, intellectual property, strategic partnerships, and other complex transactions.
• Strong understanding of global privacy laws (particularly UK and EU laws) and how those laws impact relationships with customers, vendors and partners.
• Understanding of business challenges and demonstrated ability in developing sensible and commercially reasonable compromise positions.
• Exceptional analytical, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills – demonstrated capability to quickly analyze complex factual situations, evaluate key risk issues and make appropriate decisions.
• Proven experience in leading teams of commercial lawyers.
• Ability to manage change effectively and guide team members through change.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to present complex scenarios in a clear and concise manner.
• Another European language is a plus, but not essential.
