Context:The Director Northern Corridor Technical Services will be responsible for leading and overseeing critical technical and operational functions in the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable rail infrastructure projects. This role focuses on ensuring systems safety assurance, integrating rail corridor access, delivery readiness assurance, planning and integrating work, overseeing testing and commissioning processes, and coordinating the handback of completed project work for entry into revenue service. The ideal candidate will bring extensive rail industry experience, particularly in project handback and revenue service entry, and possess a deep understanding of regulated industry standards. Missions/Main Duties:1. Systems Safety Assurance· Lead systems safety assurance initiatives to ensure that all rail infrastructure and operations meet regulatory, safety, and compliance requirements.· Collaborate with engineering and safety teams to identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with project work.2. Rail Corridor Access Management, Planning, and Integration· Integrate Lakeshores rail corridor access to facilitate project work, coordinating with operations and other stakeholders to minimize disruptions to regular services.· Develop and implement corridor access plans that ensure efficient and safe execution of project activities.· Work closely with project managers and stakeholders to integrate access plans with overall project timelines and milestones.3. Testing and Commissioning· Lead and oversee testing and commissioning activities to ensure that all systems and components are functioning effectively and in compliance with operational standards.· Coordinate with project and technical teams to develop comprehensive testing protocols and schedules.· Ensure documentation and reporting of all testing activities to support quality control and regulatory compliance.4. Project Handback and Entry into Revenue Service· Oversee the handback process for completed project work, ensuring a smooth transition of assets and systems into operational status.· Conduct thorough evaluations to confirm that all project deliverables meet the standards required for safe and effective revenue service.· Manage all activities associated with the entry into revenue service, ensuring alignment with operational and safety requirements.5. Stakeholder and Team Management· Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support project objectives and address any compliance or operational concerns.· Lead a multidisciplinary technical services team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. Profile/Skills:Education and Experience:· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field is preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.· Significant experience in the rail industry, with demonstrated expertise in project lifecycle management, particularly in project handback and revenue service entry.· Extensive experience in regulated industries, with a thorough understanding of safety, compliance, and operational standards.Technical and Professional Competencies:· In-depth knowledge of rail corridor access management, systems safety assurance, and testing and commissioning processes.· Proven ability to lead project handback operations and coordinate entry into revenue service effectively and efficiently.· Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and experience working with compliance and safety standards in a highly regulated environment.Professional Memberships:· Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, PMI) is preferred.Key Skills and Attributes· Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and motivate a diverse technical team.· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve complex project challenges.· Effective communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, regulatory bodies, and technical teams.· High level of organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines. :SYSTRA Canada is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer that values applications from all and offers employment equity based on the merits and abilities of candidates and personnel.Note: In this description, the masculine gender is used for easy reading purposes and includes the feminine.
