The Institute is a hub in broad, multidisciplinary networks linking the laboratory and the clinic to address key challenges in cancer research, leveraging diverse strengths across the University and with clinical and research partners across the McGill-affiliated healthcare network. Key research areas include cancer metabolism, tumor microenvironment, cancer genome biology, RNA biology and therapeutics, early-stage cancers, and high-fatality cancers.Institute members are committed to accelerating discoveries in cancer research by generating new knowledge and working with partners to translate this information to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for cancer patients. We bring together the best minds across various disciplines and help to train the next generation of cancer research leaders. Faculty members have rich collaborative ties with departments and institutes across McGill, Quebec, and internationally. With 24 core members, 33 associate and affiliate members, 203 research trainees (including undergraduates, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows), 6 advanced technological platforms,

The Director will work closely with the leadership of the other units that make up the School of Biomedical Sciences, advise the SBMS Director and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and represent the Institute externally, in Quebec, nationally and internationally.The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop, communicate, and implement a unifying vision for a high-performing unit. The preferred candidate will have a strong personal research and teaching program and experience leading inter-disciplinary research initiatives. A record of working effectively with external partners including government, industry and philanthropy will be an asset.The successful candidate is an energetic and thoughtful leader with demonstrated abilities to manage change and encourage excellence in complex, high-stakes environments.
