Applicants can apply for both positions if proficient in both, or apply for just one of the positions. The successful candidates will offer comprehensive early childhood music training to students in “Music with Your Baby”, “Music and Movement” and/or Kodaly group classes. The teaching assignment will be for weekends and with the possibility of weekdays, late afternoons, and early evenings as well.We are seeking instructors with the ability to teach either one or both of the following course(s):Position 1) Instructor for Kodaly Group ClassesThe MRU Conservatory Early Childhood Music curricula is broad-based with a strong focus on using the Kodaly Method philosophy and development techniques for early childhood music instruction. The successful candidate will be energetic, motivated, and passionate about children and childhood development through music. Advanced training in the Kodaly method is required. The instructor will work collaboratively with the early childhood music coordinator to foster the growth of the program.ResponsibilitiesInstruction: course delivery including lesson preparation, course activities, and assessments; andAdministration: submit course attendance sheets, course outline signature forms, final assessments upon course completion, and participate in scheduled program meetings.QualificationsThe instructor must bring expertise in early childhood music, including in-depth knowledge of Kodaly music education with knowledge of Orff, Suzuki, and Dalcroze music education techniques as an asset.Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Education (professional equivalency will be considered) and Kodaly diploma levels preferred; musicianship and pedagogy training; experience working with young children; teaching experience; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; energetic and enthusiastic person.Position 2) Instructor for “Music with your Baby” and “Music and Movement” Group ClassesThe MRU Conservatory Early Childhood Music curricula for the “Music With Your Baby” and “Music and Movement” program is built on the foundation of development techniques for young children from 0 months to 4 years of age, enhancing the child’s natural abilities through music and language. The program also prepares parents to bring music into their young child’s daily experiences. The successful candidate will be energetic, motivated, and passionate about children and childhood development through music.
