Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob DescriptionAs an Electrical Engineer, you will perform engineering tasks while adhering to established procedures, quality assurance programs, and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in coordinating with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to execute engineering work, focusing on conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases to support modifications of Nuclear electrical systems.Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work following procedures and QA programs, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and interface with clients, suppliers, stakeholders, and other design disciplines to execute engineering work.
  • Engage in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases for client and other Nuclear electrical systems.
  • Prepare technical documents, including engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, and specifications.
  • Participate in the review of interfacing discipline’s documentation.
  • Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests for equipment and materials to support procurement.
  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of junior and assistant engineers/designers.
  • Prepare scope of work and contribute to bid proposals.
  • Perform field walk-downs during design phases and prepare Walkdown reports.
  • Assist field construction and execution activities such as field changes, design revisions, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Complete assigned tasks within budget and schedule, maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide prompt responses and engineering resolutions for critical engineering matters.

Essential Skills

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • 15+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design.
  • Experience with medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in preparing Single Line diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams, and power demand calculations.
  • Experience in transformer, cable, and circuit breaker sizing calculations.
  • Familiarity with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment.
  • Experience in modelling electrical power systems using ETAP or similar software.
  • Knowledge and experience with nuclear electrical power systems.
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards such as CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I, and OESC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Site experience in construction or commissioning of electrical systems in nuclear or heavy industries.
  • Experience in nuclear, power generation, oil & gas, or substations.
  • Ability to work with MCCs, LV, VFDs, smart equipment, and redundant power sources.
  • Proficiency in lighting analysis and design, and fire protection requirements.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in Pickering with expectations to work in the office three days a week, totaling a 37.5-hour work week.
