Under the supervision of a physician, this role mainly focuses on performing Nerve Conduction Studies (EMG) and also assists physicians with needle electromyography and neurologic examinations. As an ENP Technologist, you will play a vital role in diagnosing conditions affecting the peripheral nervous system, including spinal cord injuries, and nerve inflammation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care, while also engaging in teaching and research within a dynamic clinical environment. While registration with the Board of Registration of Electromyography Technologists is preferred, training to perform Nerve Conduction studies may be offered to a successful candidate who meets the criteria below. As the technologist, you will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot electroneurophysiology equipment and keep accurate patient records. This position requires travel to and working at other adult acute care sites in the Calgary Zone as required. Whatever your interests, you’ll find your work-life balance in Calgary.Description:As an Electroneurophysiology (EEG) Technologist, you will perform appropriate tests on all age groups, utilizing a variety of electrode application methods and explain testing procedures to clients/patients and family. You will observe physical changes in the patient during testing, prepare results and/or interprets findings for/with physician. You will prepare, update and maintain patient records. You will ensure proper operation of equipment by performing maintenance, calibration, cleaning and detect any equipment malfunction, make minor repairs or report the need for major repairs to the appropriate person. You will inform the physician of urgent examination results and resolve unusual or complex cases or refers concerns to the appropriate individual(s).

Required Qualifications:Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Additional Required Qualifications:Current CPR certification required. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with patients, families, and other staff. Must have the ability to work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team. Is up to the physical requirements of the job, which include prolonged sitting/standing, pushing/pulling of equipment, assisting with patient transfers, and sustained awkward postures involved in day-to-day work activities. Preferred Qualifications:Graduation from a formal healthcare program, or equivalent training preferred; however, a Diploma or Degree in another healthcare discipline may be considered for candidates requiring training in performing Nerve Conduction studies. Successful completion of the Board of Registration of Electromyography of Canada (BRETC) examinations preferred. At least 2-3 years’ work experience in an acute health care setting is preferred.
