Electronic Reliability Engineer Intern Winter 2026

How You Will Contribute:

Work with Reliability team member in efforts to:

• test discrete components and PCBAs in lab for accelerated life and corrosion for harsh environments. Working onsite at the Ottawa campus will be need 3-4 days a week.
• Setup test circuits and monitor critical component parameters.
• Assess electrical components on electronic circuit board for life, using excel
• Organize reliability data to be searchable for ease of reference in Failure Modes Analysis (FMECA) spreadsheet.

The Must Haves:

• Education: working toward a degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
• Excel, Excel VBA
• Understand of simple electronic circuits and components.
• Experience with DVM and various lab instruments
• Self-starter, highly motivated with good interpersonal and communication skills
• willingness to learn

Assets

• Programming knowledge Java Script, node.js, Git and Arduino controllers,
• Soldering

What you will learn:

You will walk away from this experience with exposure to Telecommunications Equipment and Labs. Understand of Ciena’s complex electronic circuit packs and optical components. Importance of designing for reliability. How to accelerate product ageing. Familiarity with Lab FA instrument: X-ray, SEM, EDX, confocal microscope, cross-section analyses.

Pay Range: The hourly pay range for this position is $18.75-33.00
