The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver campus invites applications for an hourly 1-year appointment as an Engineering Technician with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and job performance. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2025. The salary is $39. 06 per hour.
The hired Engineering Technician will contribute to the design of an unmanned guided vehicle for pipe inspection and remediation. This employee reports to the professor in-charge, and is expected to work with project collaborators, technicians and industrial partners.
The work performed will include:
1. Create detailed 3D models using Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and iterate designs based on feedback.
3. Apply mechanical knowledge to design the vehicle components.
4. Generate prototype(s), conduct testing, and provide design documentation for manufacturing.
