Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.Reporting to the Director, Clinical and Experiential Learning, the Field Practicum Coordinator is responsible for developing, promoting, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining field practicum sites in consultation with the program coordinator. The incumbent supports all Site Supervisor relationships for the Veterinarian Technician program. The incumbent supports all eligible students obtain a practicum by the start of the relevant term. The incumbent participates in reviewing and revising Veterinary Technician specific and CEL general processes.What You’ll Be Doing
- Arranging and coordinating field practicum sites for the Veterinarian Technician program for all relevant semesters; determining and managing lists of students scheduled for placement;
- Developing and maintaining community partner relationships;
- Managing field practicum database in Sheridan Works;
- Consulting with Veterinarian Technician Program Coordinators regarding practicum scheduling issues and needs; reassessing practicum sites on a routine basis;
- Compiling, reviewing and distributing field placement materials to students, field placement sites and faculty, support staff and program coordinators;
- Conducting field visits as required by students, faculty and agencies;
- Educating and informing Students, Clinical Instructors, Placement Supervisors, Sheridan Faculty and Program Coordinators about the practicum model, policies, procedures and requirements of the College and Placement Site;
- Conducting pre-practicum classroom meetings, presentations/workshops with students and/or Clinical Instructors to educate them about the practicum requirements, policies and procedures needed to secure a practicum;
- Establishing and maintaining administrative policies, procedures and documentation requirements for practicum related issues;
- Responding to students and field inquiries about practicum requirements;
- Providing link with program faculty and Professional Advisory Council members to ensure consistency between program curriculum and field practicum;
- Developing and updating the Field Manual and other practicum related information as needed;
- Developing and maintaining community relationships through planning and organizing special events and representing Sheridan at relevant community meetings;
- Attending Clinical and Experiential Learning team meetings and faculty meetings when required;
- Engaging as an active member of the Clinical and Experiential Learning team including development of new/revised processes and infrastructure;
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Veterinarian Technician diploma or diploma in a related field;
Minimum of 2 years’ administrative/supervisory experience working with a variety of community resources using marketing, and public relations skills and techniques;
Experience working as a Veterinarian Technician and in an educational role supporting and guiding students is an asset;
The ability to use mediation and conflict resolution skills is preferred.Who We Are
