Job description
DescriptionEvery position contributes to the spiritual and social mission of The Salvation Army. The Foodbank Helper assists in the operations of collecting and processing donations to the Williams Lake Salvation Army, practicing good stewardship of resources. The incumbent will assist in the weighing and sorting of daily food donations and fill the shareshlef and shelves as needed while following FIFO (first in, first out).KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Keeps simple records and completes incident reports as necessary.
- Works with volunteers in a positive and respectful manner.
- Processes donated items: unloading, sorting, spacing, and loading items.
- Creates and maintain donor/donation records and reports statistics.
- Replenishes inventory levels based on supervisor’s directions.
- Operates commercial scale.
- Works with team members in building safety: including light cleaning and reporting needed maintenance to supervisor; assists in general cleanup, snow removal, garbage, and compost removal.
- Will be responsible for receiving phone calls, receiving donations, handling public inquiries within Williams Lake Salvation Army’s policies.
- May be responsible for serving breakfast and lunch in the community kitchen.
- May be asked to support the kitchen with dishes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
HOURS: 20 hrs – Monday – Friday 9:00pm -1:00pm.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Education/Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Safe 1 basic
- CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training as an
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly, non-judgmental manner.
- A proven ability to work in a team setting, as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability to change and frequent
- Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
- Agreeable to a flexible, non-routine
- The ability to maintain confidentiality.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
