Forklift Operator

$21/hr – $24/hr, SE, Calgary,

Job Description

As a forklift operator, you will be responsible for building loads after the dispatch team has coordinated with the drivers. You will use a sitdown forklift to offload freights, sticker the freight, and ensure they have been properly staged according to the offloading plan. Once the plan is set, you will load all the freight. Products can range from tires to HVAC units, juice, batteries, and more, with weights ranging from 50-150lbs.

Responsibilities

• Offloading inbound trailers and staging freight for body jobs.

• Preloading trailers for city deliveries.

• Helping customers and performing dock checks.

• Offloading multiple trailers a night and loading city delivery trucks during the graveyard shift.

• Staging freight for future loads and body jobs.

• Loading outbound trailers and offloading city pick-up trailers during the outbound shift.

• Following the manifest to ensure correct loading and monitoring trailer weights.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 1 year of sitdown forklift experience.

• 3rd Party Forklift Certification.

• Good reading and writing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Cross Dock Experience.

Work Environment

This role is based in a transportation freight company located in the Great Plains Business Park. The position is transit accessible and involves working in a busy warehouse/distribution center. The environment is very relaxed, with a focus on getting work done without damaging anything. The team size ranges from 2-4 people plus the office staff. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear. The graveyard shift runs from 2200-0630 with overtime as needed, and the outbound shift runs from 1400-2230 with overtime as needed.
