About the team

This role is part of Mambu’s legal & Compliance team, whose mission is to provide expert legal and regulatory advice to Mambu teams globally, ensure compliance with laws, privacy regulations as well as address and mitigate risks.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a Global Data Protection Officer to lead the implementation, management, and oversight of our global data protection compliance program. This role is critical for ensuring compliance across our SaaS banking products and operations in over 32 jurisdictions, including Europe, North and South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for advising our management on data protection obligations, establishing and implementing a global data protection strategy, and ensuring our products and operations meet all applicable data protection requirements. Key responsabilities will include:

• Inform and advise the company and its management on obligations as a data controller and processor under the data protection laws applicable to Mambu’s global operations.
• Incorporate data protection requirements into product development, business processes, and operations.
• Provide actionable advice to the Product team and other business units to ensure compliance with data protection laws.
• Develop, manage, and monitor internal data privacy programs, policies, and processes.
• Lead privacy impact assessments and integrate privacy by design in product development.
• Maintain and update a record of processing operations, advise on data sharing with third parties, and manage data processor engagements.
• Liaise with customers on data protection-related topics.
• Manage cross-border data transfer and data localization compliance.
• Act as a point of contact for data subjects regarding the processing of their personal data and their rights.
• Develop and deliver data protection training and awareness initiatives.
• Report to and work closely with executive leadership on data protection compliance issues.
• Handle and coordinate responses to potential data incidents and liaise with relevant data protection authorities.

What you’ll bring

• 7 + post qualification experience relevant to the role.
• LL.M. degree in law with focus on privacy and compliance (CIPP/E, CIPM or equivalent desirable).
• Expertise in data protection laws and practices (GDPR and international regulations, specifically CCPA, PDPA, Australian Privacy Act).
• Understanding of information technology aspects of a software company, information security practices and audits.
• Experience in implementing global data protection strategies in a SaaS or tech environment.
• Knowledgeable on available technical, organizational and contractual controls to protect information.
• Experience in data privacy risk assessments.
• Experience in risk and controls management including enterprise risk management frameworks highly desired.
• Experience working for a diverse multinational organisation.
