Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Administration & Finance, and working closely with the Program Director, the incumbent oversees the research grants and contracts, which are varied and complex in scope, for LoGRI (Local Government Revenue Initiative) and supports the financial activities for Munk.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Forecasting, planning and monitoring multiple complex budgets
  • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on funding accounts for grants and contracts
  • Ensuring research sponsor financial terms have been applied correctly
  • Processing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
  • Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports
  • Generating standard financial reports

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business and/or accounting or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years’ of recent and relevant financial experience related to post award research grants and contracts administration
  • Solid work experience in aspects of accounting up to and including payroll, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures.
  • Solid work experience interpreting and applying financial policies.
  • Experience interpreting and adhering with granting agencies’ funding guidelines and policies.
  • Well-developed financial forecasting analysis abilities.
  • Proven experience with compiling, investigating, and analysing financial information as well as making recommendations based on outcome of analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office, with advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Advanced experience with University’s Administrative Management System (FIS, DIS, RIS, and HRIS), or other similar systems.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 13 — $84,813. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $108,463. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
