Job description
Our client in SE Calgary is seeking an experienced High Voltage Tester to join their expanding team. This critical role involves QA inspection, testing, and documentation of electrical equipment, including switchgear, breakers, and transformers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production, quality control, and compliance with industry standards. Your ability to troubleshoot and solve problems will be key to resolving any testing issues while fostering a strong safety culture. - Champion a safety-first culture by actively participating in daily toolbox meetings, addressing safety concerns, and setting an example of best safety practices.
- Communicate effectively with the Shop Foreman, HV Integration Foreman, Project Managers, trades, contractors, and client representatives to ensure smooth production and QA activities.
- Attend project kickoff meetings to review drawings, project scope, and timelines, ensuring alignment and a clear understanding of project objectives.
- Follow detailed testing plans and procedures based on approved drawings, client specifications, and industry standards. Perform QA inspection, testing, and documentation of electrical equipment.
- Work with Project Managers to provide regular updates on production, highlight potential challenges, and offer suggestions for improvements to meet project timelines.
- Review test sheets and documentation to verify results. Communicate any discrepancies or issues to the QA/QC team and Project Manager for resolution.
- Contribute to shop safety meetings and ensure compliance with the company’s QMS and HSE programs, maintaining professionalism, respect, and a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma OR Journeyman Electrician Certificate preferred.
- 3-5 years in testing, commissioning, or service environments. Experience with QA/QC, inspection, and testing of switchgear, breakers, and instrument transformers is required. Relay, metering, and distribution transformer testing experience is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with MS Office applications and standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and time management skills are essential.
- Must have appropriate tools for the trade, and CSA certified footwear
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in awkward positions when required
