Become a pivotal team member as a Hospitality Services Assistant and play a foundational role in orchestrating our events. As an ambassador of our institution, you’ll ensure smooth transitions, from event set-up to tear down, catering to internal and external ROM functions.   • Facilitate seamless event set-up and tear-down, ensuring every detail aligns with ROM’s standards.
  • Efficiently handle furniture and event materials, moving them safely and meticulously.
  • Uphold beverage and event material inventory, ensuring accurate documentation and readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Hospitality Service and sales team, ensuring all event projects are executed perfectly.
  • Utilize various software, from Word and Excel to GroupWise and Delphi, to manage client reports, inventories, and more.
  • Maintain storage areas, participate in inventory checks, and undertake other relevant duties as they arise.
  • Inspect cleanliness and working condition of all equipment for event spaces. Report any damage or issues to the Supervisor.
  • When required, assist guests, clients, vendors when working during event execution.
  • Work with all ROM lateral teams: Housekeeping, Audio Visual, Visitor Experience, Security, Catering, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. In carrying out your duties, you will follow all ROM standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the hospitality industry, preferably as a banquet service worker.
  • Physical fitness is essential, with tasks including lifting heavy items and moving furniture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with inventory software systems like Freepour and Shopify.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Liquor sales, consumption legislation, and Board of Health by-laws.
  • Familiarity with event rental equipment and ordering sheets as well as floor plans would be an asset.
  • Remain calm under pressure and adapt to changes in real time.
  • French language proficiency would be a distinct advantage.

  • HOURLY RATE: $28.09 – $32.09
  • SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours or six (6) months

WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS * Initial conversation: A 30-minute virtual conversation** with a Recruiter to discuss your interest in the role and ROM and how you can make an impact.

  • First interview: A 1-hour in-person or virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team. This in-depth interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team’s and ROM’s needs.
  • Second interview: A 1-hour in-person meeting with the Hiring Manager and relevant team members. You may be asked to present a pre-assigned case study and discuss scenarios relevant to your role.
  • Third Interview: a final interview with key stakeholders.
