Term of App’t: 2 Year Term; September 2025 – June 2027 (75% release time)Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational ProgramsSalary:An annual stipend of $3,127.00, in accordance with BCGEU Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.Description:This is a two-year term position, with the possibility of extension to June 30, 2028. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Chair provides educational leadership for the Human Development, Education and Care programs.The Chair is responsible for upholding excellence in the department and for taking appropriate, timely action to foster the highest possible standards in teaching, scholarship, service, and student advising.The Chair provides leadership to ensure program quality, overseeing curriculum, planning, assessment, regulatory oversight, and adherence to college policy. They support and coordinate department members to foster effective teamwork. They liaise with external bodies to explore program growth opportunities to maintain relevance and high standards in the field.This position may be based in Dawson Creek, Fort St.. John, or delivered remotely (online).Qualifications:Required:

  • Must be a current, regular employee of Northern Lights College
  • Completion of a relevant graduate degree (Masters or PhD)
  • Minimum of five years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level in relevant programs
  • Demonstrable commitment to educational leadership
  • Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable excellence in team-building and consultative leadership

Preference:

  • Not currently receiving course release for an appointed or earned position
  • Willingness to coordinate vacation time for maximum Chair coverage during June, July, and August.
