We have six distinct locations on campus, all staffed by your Students’ Union.Job SummaryInfoLink’s main focus is to provide quality customer service to the campus community. This position involves daily administrative tasks, operational efficiency, problem solving, and client service. The Senior Peer Advisor position relies heavily on the individual’s ability to work independently and use their knowledge of operational policies and procedures to make informed decisions when assisting students. Staff can expect to work at locations such as:Student Life Central: provides assistance to students on behalf of the UASU Services Department. This location operates as the main check-in point for all UASU Student Services located in the lower level of SUB. Staff are required to be familiar with the programs provided by the UASU and have the ability to quickly switch tasks and are highly organized. Student Life Central also provides services offered by the ONEcard program.InfoLink ONEcard Service Centre: provides assistance to students on behalf of the ONEcard program. This involves issuing new cards, replacement cards, laundry cards, ID badges, managing ONEcard accounts, processing library fines, and other duties. Staff at this location regularly utilize high-level problem solving, and have a strong understanding of the ONEcard program.International Services Centre: provides assistance to students with inquiries relating to any programs within University of Alberta International (UAI). The main focus is to assist International Student Advisors in triaging students, process payments for UAI services, guide international students through getting set up in Edmonton, and provide general information to students visiting the International Services Centre. This location requires excellent prioritization skills and communication, especially in diverse contexts.Duties & Responsibilities * Provide front-line customer service and front desk administrative support at the various InfoLink locations around the University of Alberta campus, including but not limited to:

  • Responding to all walk-up, telephone, and email inquiries,
  • Managing drop-in appointment requests,
  • Receiving and distributing office mail,
  • Restocking office supplies,
  • Compiling service statistics, report on service statistics,
  • Processing payments via cash, debit, credit, or cheque,
  • Reviewing room and rental item booking requests.
  • Provide clients with accurate academic and campus referrals.
  • Promote and provide guidance related to community involvement opportunities for students.
  • When appropriate, refer students to various University and Students’ Union or University of Alberta services.
  • Utilize available resources to provide students with the information they need to be successful at the University of Alberta.
  • When scheduled, responsible for the timely opening and secure closing of InfoLink office locations.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions throughout the year.
  • Regularly maintain InfoLink internal staff resources.
  • Oversee and maintain InfoLink’s lost and found database.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the InfoLink Admin staff.
  • Sell and promote special event tickets and merchandise.
  • Provide Arc Card and U-Pass Program information and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the ONEcard Distribution Event in August and September 2025.
  • Strictly adhere to FOIP standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a continuing undergraduate student at the University of Alberta, registered for at least one class in the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 terms.
  • A detailed understanding of, or willingness to learn about, University of Alberta academic procedures and services.
  • Must have completed at least one academic year of study at the University of Alberta.
  • The ability to work on-site at InfoLink locations, which includes frequent, in-person interactions with members of the public.
  • Must be available to work during the operational hours listed below.
  • Must be available to attend new staff orientation on May 13 and 15, 2025 from 9am-5pm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Available to work for 3 or more consecutive hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday). For example, 9am-12pm or 1:30pm-5:30pm.
  • Experience in customer service and front-line customer assistance.
  • Experience communicating and interacting with a large volume of individuals.
  • Experience in cash and inventory handling.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with peers and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex or stressful situations.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering for the UASU Student Services.
  • Previous experience working or volunteering for University of Alberta International.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with the ONEcard Program or U-Pass Program.

Terms Of EmploymentThis position has a start date of May 1, 2025 and an end date of April 30, 2026 with the possibility of extension. This position is posted with the intention to fill it for the start date listed, but it is subject to any changes required as a result of 2025/2026 Students’ Union and University operations.Working Conditions

  • Working hours are between 8:15am and 5:15pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Standard hours of work are 15 – 20 hours per week depending on availability.
  • Some evenings or weekends required for general staff meetings and training.
  • Additional hours during the first two weeks of classes (September and January).
  • Uniform (vest) provided and must be worn on shift.
  • Work is done in an office setting on computers with a Windows operating system.
  • Staff may be required to move from one location to another within a single shift, on the University of Alberta North Campus.
