Insulation Installer

$27-$45/hr

Job Description

We are seeking skilled laborers to join our team specializing in scaffolding services and mechanical insulation. This role supports major projects such as the Joint Support Ship (JSS) combat vessel and the Offshore Oceanographic Science Vessel projects. Your primary responsibilities will include applying, removing, and repairing thermal and acoustical insulation on various types of industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Apply, remove, and repair thermal and acoustical insulation on industrial equipment such as duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.

• Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements.

• Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed and the method of securing the insulation according to equipment type and conditions.

• Measure and cut insulating materials to required shapes and dimensions.

• Fit insulation around obstructions and shape insulation materials and protective coverings.

• Install vapor barriers and finish insulated surfaces with metal cladding, canvas, PVC, or cement.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of construction experience.

• Proficiency in operating hand and power tools.

• Ability to meet security requirements (Permanent Resident or Citizen).

• Effective communication skills in English (reading, writing, speaking).

• CSTS certification.

• Reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in insulation, carpentry, or sheet metal work.

• Strongly preferred insulation experience.

• Strong communication skills.

• Canadian citizenship.

Work Environment

The work is located at Seaspan shipyards in North Vancouver.

On-site parking is available, though it fills up quickly.

You will be part of a team of 36 employees, reporting to the Site Superintendent along with one other supervisor and five foremen.

The current projects involve three ships.

The shift is Monday to Friday, starting at 5:45 am and ending at 4:00 pm, with 10-hour workdays (8 regular hours and 2 overtime hours).

Weekend overtime is also available.

This is a long term position based out of North Vancouver, British Columbia.
