As an Intermediate II Data Scientist, you will be building artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for our customers. Our solutions are developed by small, focused agile teams of data scientists and developers. You will be applying a wide variety of models to very large electronic communication archives in order to classify and understand communication content. You’ll have the opportunity to work in machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, LLMs (large language models), and/or generative AI. You also get to tackle interesting and engaging problems related to scalability and high availability in big data environments.
This is an opportunity to work alongside some of the best data scientists in Vancouver and apply your craft in an environment that encourages creative thinking and collaboration.What you will be doing:Work closely with other data scientists and developers in building and deploying various machine learning modelsExecute all steps in the data science process from understanding business requirements to deploying modelsProduce reports detailing model performanceTake initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating with others on cross-cutting technical issuesParticipate in design review, code review, sprint planning, and other Agile artifactsCollaborate with Product Management on user story generation and refinementContribute to knowledge-sharing activities with colleaguesMentor junior and intermediate data scientists via pairing and reviewsInstill a spirit of continuous improvement in the team’s code, architecture, and processesWhat you must have:3-5 years of experience with solving machine learning problemsBSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject or equivalent work experienceExperience working with very large data sets in an enterprise-wide application environmentExperience with Python and BashExperience with common machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, TensorRT, and othersExperience mentoring junior and intermediate data scientistsStrong organizational and communication skillsNice to have:MSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject (considered 1 additional year of experience)PhD in a STEM or Linguistics subject (considered 2 additional years of experience)Data collection and cleaning experienceData engineering skillsExperience with:Acoustic or language models for speech recognitionNatural language processing modelsLarge language modelsKubernetes and microservicesWorking in an agile development environmentSalary/Rate Range: $80,000—$120,000 CADFor more information about TEEMA and to consider other career opportunities, please visit our website at
