Based out of Calgary, Edmonton, or a home office in Alberta or Saskatchewan with access to a major airport, you’ll work as part of our reclamation team to contribute to the environmental planning and permitting efforts of privately-owned infrastructure projects. We’ll rely on you to lead and mentor field crews and provide support on critical projects while fostering a culture of continuous learning as you bring fresh ideas to the table. You’ll have the opportunity to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams associated with our Western Canada Offices to lead a variety of reclamation-based field projects that may include a combination of vegetation, soil, and landscape assessments. You will support field data collection efforts, regulatory applications, and assist with the development of technical reports to company and industry standards. This position will start late in the spring with an anticipated 80% of fieldwork and 20% office work. A successful offer will be full-time or a 12-month contract depending on workload and/or skillset. Contracts have the potential of extension or conversion to full-time.

Diploma, B.Sc. or M.Sc. in environmental sciences or related field

Hold or be eligible to obtain a professional designation, such as P.Ag or RT.Ag
-
Demonstrated relevant experience completing various pre- and post-construction reclamation assessments (e.g., Detailed Site Assessments, Post-construction Reclamation Assessments) throughout Western Canada
-
At least 2 years’ experience leading reclamation-related field work

Strong field skills in identification of weed species, native vegetation, and common agricultural crop-types in Alberta and Saskatchewan

Knowledge of common soil characteristics and classification
-
Willingness to work in the field in remote locations for extended periods of time
-
Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and suited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
-
Strong time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines

A driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
Ideally, you’ll also have

Experience using the Canadian System of Soil Classification

Knowledge of Alberta’s 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities

Experience completing Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments within Western Canada
-
Experience working with linear development construction programs

Experience using and analyzing remote sensing technology

Experience or interest to support other biophysical study areas such as wildlife, wetlands and/or fisheries field assessments
