In this role you will be responsible for the design of structural elements and systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood. You will be required to work with limited supervision and direction on small to medium sized projects and as a team member of larger projects, under the general supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer. You will participate in the analysis and design of structural components and systems for a variety of projects in compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/ practices.Your Key ResponsibilitiesWork on multiple projects of small to large scale using various materialsInteract with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, consultants, and contractorsPrepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.Prepare and revise documentation at various design phases, including floor plans, diagrams, and detailsWork with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues.Work to and meet project time lines and budgets.Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices, and other project team members.Preparation and review of technical reportsParticipate in constructability reviewsParticipate in Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control processConstruction administration including site reviewsMentoring, coaching and training of less experienced professionals as requiredQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsGeneral knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes (ex. OBC, A23.3, S16, S304, O86)General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specificationsGeneral knowledge of structural systems, means & methods of construction, and materialsAbility to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtGeneral understanding of structural engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to othersExcellent oral and written communication skillsUnderstanding of Component Design Software and Building Analysis Software.
