The primary focus of the Research Coordinator is to provide administrative and local coordination of multiple research projects within the laboratory of a single Principal Investigator located at Vancouver General Hospital. The responsibilities include management of day to day finances of several grants, monthly budget review, onboarding of new students, volunteers and staff, research ethics applications and renewals, management of space and space requests, coordination of meetings and rooms, and direct support to the PI as needed. The incumbent will have exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, as well as a high degree of motivation, enthusiasm, and initiative.Organizational Status
Reports to the Principal Investigator, but interacts regularly with all members of the research team. In addition, will liaise with other staff, faculty, and students located in the same geographic area.Work Performed
Prepares and submits ethics applications.Manages onboarding of new students, volunteers and staff.Ensures that every study has updated documentation for ethics, approvals, et al., and that participant identifying information is not housed together with data.Works with team members to develop and implement recruitment strategies, develops work plans and timelines for studies.Maintains appropriate regulatory documentation.Collects data across studies.May be asked to screen, recruit and consent study participants.Manages and maintains study material organization.Ensures that the studies are performed according to ethical guidelines and GCP and are completed within the appropriate timeframeParticipates in project planning and execution.Attends meetings to define strategies for study execution and recruitment.Edits and proofs documents such as grant applications, contracts and proposals.Manages all research accounts, reconciles monthly with FMS, and provides a monthly update to the PI.Conducts monthly budget review.Manages day-to-day financial transactions across multiple studies, Works with the study investigator and prepares, composes, edits and proofs study communications;Coordinates the acquisition of information from multiple sources and individuals;Manages the PIs CVs.Updates the laboratory website.Manages the lab space and equipment.Other related duties as required.Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Research Coordinator is required to conduct the research activities in an ethical manner. Any procedures or data recorded as part of a study must be reliable and accurate, reflecting the work performed. Strict confidentiality of all study participants must be adhered too. All activities involving participants are accountable to the Principal Investigator, the Department Head, and the Research Assistant s governing professional organization. A high degree of attention to detail is a required asset.Supervision Received
Most of the work will be done independently; however, the Principal Investigator(s) will supervise all projects and meet with the Research Coordinator on a weekly basis. It may also be appropriate, at times, for the Research Coordinator to receive some supervision from the Research Associate and Postdoctoral Fellows in the lab.Supervision Given
Assigns and checks work of technicians, support staff or students as required. Responsible for onboarding of all new staff, volunteers and students. Manages volunteer contracts with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.Minimum Qualifications

Experience with Workday preferred. Ability to conduct needs analyses, plan, organize, manage, monitor, complete, and evaluate projects within allocated time and resources. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to initiate and conduct research projects. Skills and experience in managing budgets, research ethics board applications, audits, and general lab management are an asset.
$5365.42 – 7709.92 per month
