Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a Laboratory Attendant in the Biology Department for a part-time, temporary position, from January 20th, 2025, and until May 2nd, 2025.FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs, the incumbent will assist the biology laboratory technician and teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, supervision and evaluation of student learning in the clinical laboratory.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The person in this job class performs labeling, identification and classification work, as well as maintenance, washing, repair and simple adjustment of equipment; he reports any defect beyond his competence.
2. Assembles, disassembles and store laboratory equipment and instruments and makes available to users all the equipment required for laboratory sessions.
3. Complies with the standards for the use and disposal of hazardous products in accordance with current regulations and ensures that the premises and equipment are safe.
4. Carry out operations relating to the loan of equipment, devices and tools, stores them and, if necessary, explains how they work to users.
5. Usage of information and communications technology tools made available in connection with the work to be carried out. If necessary, perform any other related task.Requirements :Education
To have a secondary school diploma (DES) or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority. Individuals who are currently studying or who hold a DEC in laboratory technology or another related field will be considered an asset.Competencies
Must be able to communicate fluently in English and French, both oral and written, in order to support an English population.The candidates will be required to submit English and French language tests.Other Requirements
