At Guelph General Hospital, we are committed to our Mission of providing exemplary and equitable care for and with our community.Living our values is important here and if you want to join a team that is compassionate, inclusive, respectful, collaborative and inspired, you can see more details about the position currently available below.Current Rate of Pay: Min $42.91 – Max $53.63Current Shifts: Mon-Fri, 8 hour shiftsPosition Summary:Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, Organizational Development and Employee Health Services, the Labour Relations specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting effective working relationships with management, staff and unions by providing advice, support and guidance regarding the application and interpretation of employment law, hospital policies and procedures and collective agreements (CUPE Clerical, CUPE Service, ONA and OPSEU).The Labour Relations Specialist is responsible for the grievance process up to and including Step 2 meetings, researching and investigating all formal grievances, and works with both Directors and union representatives to determine possible resolutions.In this role, you will:

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Human Resources Management
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) an asset
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist in a multi union workplace
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Labour Relations, preferably in a health care setting
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge and experience with HR practices and principles including provincial legislation (Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, and Health and Safety), Collective Agreement administration and Hospital Policy and Procedure administration with the ability to expertly interpret and apply
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with all levels of the organization including, but not limited to Directors, colleagues and Union Representatives
- Strong understanding of collective bargaining process, practices and negotiation techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written along with strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated collaborative approach that values open and honest communication, integrity, respect, consistency and fairness
- Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive issues in a professional manner
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Above average computer abilities including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Meditech or Kronos would be an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
