We are currently seeking a Law Clerk to join our in-house legal team. The Law Clerk will utilize their experience and understanding of consulting responsibilities, construction law, corporate law, and company insurance.Duties and Responsibilities
Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contractual agreements for Architectural and Engineering, and Consulting prime and sub-consultant contracts in order to minimize contractual risk within all contracts.
Manages the timely administration of contracts, including changes, to ensure compliance with contract requirements and company policies. Ensure all prime contracts with Clients are fair and are reviewed, edited, and signed by all parties
Coordinates with all business units within NORR to ensure that all significant project contract issues are communicated and adhered to.
Works with internal stakeholders in the coordination of prime contracts and sub-consultants’ contracts. Educate company professionals regarding contract and risk management.
Participates in developing internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge capital in various legal and business issues.
Assists the project team in resolution of contract disputes.
Provides proposal support in evaluating risk and determining appropriate terms for proposals. Review RFPs and proposals to ensure compliance with terms, conditions, and company policies.
Assists legal counsel in managing the company’s statutory compliance in all jurisdictions in which the company operates.
Assists the corporate secretary with general corporate matters including the annual share trade and good corporate record keeping.
Aids the legal team in placing and managing the company’s insurance program.
Required Skills
Have completed relevant post-secondary education
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Must have excellent problem-solving skills through drawing on a number of known options to solve problems, present alternatives, and to offer solutions. Demonstrated ability to present creative solutions
Strong analytical, drafting, and negotiating skills are essential
Must have computer skills to produce reports, documents, and presentations. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
Proven ability to efficiently manage a large volume of contracts
A background in architecture or engineering is an asset
Require Experience
Must have 3-5 years’ experience handling general corporate matters and/or drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Experience independently managing and drafting contracts, correspondence, and general corporate record keeping documents.
