Our courses cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to business, technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus, online, in the workplace, and in the community.About the Transitional Vocational Program & Inclusive Post Secondary EducationThe Transitional Vocational Program (TVP) assists students with developmental disabilities in preparing for competitive employment and community living. It combines on-campus instruction with community-based work practicums. There are full time and part time program options for students.Students in MRU’s Inclusive Post-Secondary Education are enrolled in a variety of programs of study throughout the University, and we work to expand those programs of study based on the interest of each individual student. Students are encouraged and supported to connect with their classmates, get involved in various on-campus extra-curricular activities and events, and to pursue interest specific practicum and work opportunitiesAbout the RoleThe and initiative are seeking a part-time Learner Engagement Advisor (LEA) to support their busy program areas. This front facing, student focused position serves as the primary contact for current and prospective learners for programming within the Faculty of Continuing Education. The LEA works collaboratively with the programming teams to provide learner support and resolve concerns. This position is responsible for advising learners on general program information, admission and graduation requirements, Faculty and University policies and procedures, industry or career-related information, and assisting with course access and technical issues. This position must engage with learners, program staff, registration staff, instructors, and the University community. The LEA also works closely with various staff to develop learner-friendly communications and processes, and advocate for learner needs. This position is not eligible for the hybrid work program.The role is scheduled for Monday – Friday for 27.5 hours. There is an inactive period July 1-August 14 annually.ResponsibilitiesAdvising, Support & Student CommunicationProvides professional customer service and developmental learner advising in all interactions with the goal of learner attraction, retention, and satisfaction.Responds to inquiries regarding programs and courses.Provides prospective learners with accurate and detailed course or program information (phone, email, virtual and in person) as required.Advises current and prospective learners on program and course options.Manages delegated email accounts related to programs, and provides professional and prompt responses to inquiries.Responds to learner concerns and complaints regarding courses/programs and escalates to the program coordinator/program administrator as needed.Maintains a high level of knowledge of learner information systems relating to learner enrolment records.Assesses applications for admission based on entrance requirementsGenerates admission letters for admitted programs as required.Disseminates orientation and registration information for programs as required.Maintains admitted programs learner records as per MRU record retention schedule.Assists the program coordinator as needed, with reviewing exceptional applications to graduate.Refers learners and instructors to various resources available specific to course issues, disagreements, or grade appeals. Escalates to program coordinator/program administrator as required.Compiles learner progress reports for programs that are revised/suspended.Assists with the coordination of educational and promotional events related to programming (e.g., information sessions, trade shows, conferences, job fairs, etc.).Attends trade shows, specialty events, graduation, open houses, and conferences to market programs as required.Writes email template responses to frequently asked questions regarding programming.Collaboration & General AdministrationManages personal workload and calendar based on semester timelines and priorities.Works collaboratively with other team members.Maintains accurate, confidential documentation of advising conversations to support team members with future communications.Contributes to the evaluation and planning of programs and courses by providing input/insight into program operation and growth.Contributes and collaborates with coworkers by sharing perspectives, best practices, and insights related to the role on various projects including curriculum development, copyright, Faculty working groups, etc. as required.Assists colleagues as needed, including short term coverage.Attends and contributes to Faculty meetings.Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.Seeks direction on University policy and procedures as required.Adheres to all Faculty and University policiesQualificationsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field18 – 24 months of related work experience, including working with clients on an one-to-one basisExperience in a post-secondary environment, particularly related student advising and recruitmentExperience working with and supporting diverse student groups, including adults with developmental disabilities.Professional and inclusive mindset.Salary: $ 30.76 – $38.92Closing Date: January 03, 2025A cover letter, resume and portfolio samples should be submitted in one .pdf document.
