Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and production of a variety of legal documents, with accuracy, in the area of litigation.
- Attending to file openings, preparation, and management.
- Preparation of daily correspondence.
- Entering time and working with the billing department, as required.
- Performing online searches and filings through BC Online/BC Registries.
- Proofreading of typed material for grammatical, typographical, or spelling errors.
- Maintaining an efficient bring forward/follow-up system.
- Carrying out other general administrative tasks as required by the firm.
Essential Skills & experience
- Legal Assistant Certification from an accredited institution or the equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years’ experience as a legal assistant in the area of litigation with knowledge and understanding of the B.C. Supreme Court Rules.
- Solid understanding of law office procedures.
- Strong computer skills in the area of Microsoft Suite.
- iManage, 3E experience would be an asset.
- Rigor and attention to detail.
- Great organization and prioritization skills.
- Handling and prioritizing workload while working under pressure of tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Behaving in a professional manner with lawyers, clients, and other team members at all levels.
- Team-spirit, strong sense of collaboration and positive, “can-do” attitude.
The salary range for this role is $55,000 – $65,000.
