LEO Systems Design & Modelling Co-op (May – December 2025)

Under the guidance of senior technical staff, the Systems Design and Modelling Intern will support development of the Lightspeed constellation System Model and assist in performing system-engineering analyses. This is a 8 month position.
Main Responsibilities
Use state-of-the-art modeling techniques and software tools (using Matlab) to assist in the development of the Lightspeed constellation System Model.
Refactor existing codebase to improve readability and maintainability
Prepare and perform system simulations to characterize the system in terms of achievable throughput, system capacity, end-to-end latency, resource cost, link or throughput availability, interference constraints or impairments, and regulatory compliance.
Evaluate and compare alternative resource allocation algorithms and strategies
Document analyses and findings in the form of technical presentations and reports
Education & Experience Required
3rd Electrical, computer or system engineering, from an accredited Canadian University
Proficiency with MATLAB programming
Interpersonal skills
Written and verbal skills in English
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
