Located in downtown Toronto, the largest and most culturally diverse city in Canada and on the territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and the Wendat Peoples, the School of Information Technology Management in the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University [www.torontomu.ca] (formerly Ryerson University) invites applications for a Loretta Rogers Research Chair in Cybersecurity Analytics. The selected Research Chair will be appointed as a tenured faculty member at the rank of Associate Professor starting July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval. The Research Chair will be appointed for a 5-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
Established in 2007, and made possible through a significant leadership gift from the Rogers family, the Loretta Rogers Research Chair Program aims to attract outstanding scholars to advance and enrich innovative and societally relevant research and learning experiences at TRSM.
We are seeking an eminent scholar to join our research and innovation environment, bringing experience and a deep understanding of the theories, practices, techniques, tools and issues surrounding cybersecurity and analytics. The successful candidate will integrate research interests in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, as well as other relevant fields.
The ultimate value of this Loretta Rogers Research Chair lies in its potential to create and mobilize knowledge and contribute to industry, policy and society in highly impactful ways. It is expected that the Chair’s research will shape/influence and respond to the changing nature of cybersecurity knowledge and practice.
The successful candidate will be expected to: develop and maintain a strong, independent, externally-funded and internationally recognized research program; mentor and collaborate with colleagues on research grants and publications; publish in highly ranked journals; supervise graduate students; teach at undergraduate and graduate levels; and engage in collegial service.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Information Systems or a closely related field, and hold, or be eligible to hold, a tenured position at a recognized institution at the Associate rank. In addition, the successful candidates must present evidence of:
expertise in areas such as cybersecurity, business analytics, artificial intelligence, and/or other relevant specialized areas in management;
internationally recognized research profile with evidence of peer reviewed contributions in high quality outlets in the areas of cybersecurity and analytics (e.g., the use of AI to address cybersecurity issues and/or the security of AI systems);
demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program (and/or participation in partnership grants and/or ability to attract multi-institutional grants) of an internationally competitive caliber;
research collaborations or strong potential/ability to attract industrial and community collaborative initiatives;
the demonstrated ability to develop and retain excellent trainees, students and future researchers;
experience in course development and teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
demonstrated commitment to upholding the values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly, research or creative activities, and evidence of their ability to work with a diverse student population;
ability and willingness to contribute to the community of the Ted Rogers’ School of Management and the University through collegial service.
