Maintenance Associate

Location: Montreal (on-site)Hours: Full-time permanent (40 hours) Position Summary Valnet’s sister company, VREC, is currently searching for a Maintenance Associate. The Maintenance Associate is responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of a 6-floor commercial building, including all common areas, mechanical spaces, exterior grounds, and parking facilities. The role combines hands-on maintenance duties with concierge-level support, ensuring tenants and visitors experience a clean, functional, and well-managed environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Building Maintenance & Operations • Perform daily inspections of floors, common areas, stairwells, elevators, and mechanical rooms. • Conduct basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, lighting, painting, door hardware). • Monitor HVAC systems and report irregularities. • Ensure access systems, locks, and security features are functioning properly. 2. Exterior & Parking Areas • Inspect building perimeter, landscaping, and loading docks. • Maintain parking areas; remove debris and monitor lighting. • Coordinate snow removal and seasonal outdoor maintenance. 3. Tenant & Visitor Support • Act as a professional point of contact for tenants. • Respond to maintenance requests promptly. • Assist with contractor access and deliveries. 4. Preventive Maintenance & Safety • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks. • Maintain inspection logs. • Report or correct safety hazards immediately. • Assist during fire alarms and emergencies. 5. Vendor & Contractor Coordination • Escort contractors and supervise work zones. • Communicate progress or delays to management. 6. Cleaning Support (Light Duties) • Spot cleaning, replacing consumables, managing waste bins as needed. Qualifications Required: • 2–3 years of experience in building maintenance. • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. • Strong communication and customer service skills. • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks. • Availability for occasional after-hours calls. Preferred: • DEP or technical training in building maintenance. • Experience in commercial buildings. • Knowledge of access control or building automation systems. • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
