General Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Maintenance and Energy Services, the Manager, Campus Mechanical Systems, will manage the execution of all campus mechanical maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.

What Will You Do?

• Manage all University of Guelph plumbers, steam fitters, millwrights and building mechanics, along with the various external contractors servicing all campus mechanical systems
• Responsible for keeping the entire campus mechanical infrastructure in peak operating condition, and providing excellent customer service, while maintaining a safe work environment
• Instructing staff on the safe and proper use of equipment and assigning work
• Assisting in the design and execution of the preventative maintenance program, conducting inspections and troubleshooting problems
• Work closely with all areas of Physical Resources including Finance and Administration, Campus Planning, Design and Development, Central Utilities Plant, Custodial and with the other shops in Maintenance & Energy Services

What Must You Have?

• Trade certification for plumber and/or steamfitter or high degree of mechanical proficiency, coupled with a 2 year community college diploma
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing mechanical groups in a similar environment
• Strong computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office tools
• Familiarity with maintenance management software such as Megamation
• Effective communication both written and oral
