AbbVie’s mission is to discover and deliver innovative medicines that solve serious health issues today and address the medical challenges of tomorrow. We strive to have a remarkable impact on people’s lives across several key therapeutic areas: immunology, oncology, neuroscience, vision care, virology, women’s health , and gastroenterology, in addition to products and services across its Allergan Aesthetics portfolio.
The pharmacy and trade focus at AbbVie is evolving significantly from an operational and tactical focused responsibility to one requiring development of complex pharmacy and distribution strategies across the entire portfolio in both the specialty and retail pharmacy channels. A key component of this evolution are the needs of stakeholder in the specialty pharmacy channel, in which AbbVie has a significant footprint of high-value brands supporting Intestinal Bowel Disease, Rheumatology, Dermatology and Parkinson’s patients, as well as payer managed medications typically processed through retail pharmacy in Migraine, Psychiatry and Eye Care. These medications used to treat complex, chronic conditions often require special storage, handling and administration, and typically involve a significant degree of coordination with payers and HCPS, as well as dedication to patient education, monitoring and management.
The expectations of pharmacies and pharmacists in the health care ecosystem are quickly evolving and will require transformation for the future. Many pharmacies are just beginning to embrace the technologies and customer service innovation, and as specialty and retail pharmacies reinvent themselves to meet the evolving needs of their patients, the Pharmacy Partnership and Trade Manager will establish the vision and strategy for how AbbVie will partner with these key stakeholders to optimize the patient experience and grow our business now and in the future. Patients are also evolving, as are their needs and expectations of their experience at the pharmacy. Whether it be a focus on convenience by experimenting with new, digital capabilities of their pharmacy, or seeking higher-touch clinical support models, these increasing patient demands put pressure on manufactures such as AbbVie to define our future specialty and retail pharmacy value propositions and identify stakeholders in the channel to partner with to navigate this complex environment.
The Pharmacy Partnership and Trade Manager will be responsible for leading a team that identifies business opportunities in the fast-evolving environment in specialty, retail pharmacy and distribution channel, then developing and implementing initiatives to partner with pharmacy and wholesaler stakeholders in support of AbbVie products. This role requires a high level of expertise in the pharmacy and distribution channel including a keen understanding of its complexities and challenges, coupled with experience developing strategic pharmacy partnerships and distribution models with an eye towards innovation.
Key job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-
Establish the vison and strategic framework to innovate and create best-in-class distribution and patient access models in both the specialty and retail channel
