Job Summary
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading a multi-discipline team with responsibility for all supply chain and shipping activities.
Job Responsibilities

Build, motivate and retain a team capable of developing and achieving the strategic plan including a high-performing culture of risk mitigation and project analytics

Provide ongoing guidance, training, and mentorship to the Supply Chain team on strategic sourcing principles and purchasing best practices with a focus on increasing individual performance and maximizing potential cost savings, cost containment and cost avoidance.

Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor and customer import/export documentation

Collaborate with operating and corporate groups to manage, implement, and centralize procurement requirements, provide awareness of, and ensure adherence and commitment to, SCM policies and procedures that facilitate operational success in alignment with the company vision approach.

Standardize processes through strategic sourcing principles and purchasing best practices in support of operational efficiency and cross sharing activities or coverage, while enabling improved reporting in support of the overall company strategy

Have an advanced understanding of the current supply base, markets, capabilities, other customers and geographical reach, trends, and dynamics of the marketplace. Develop purchasing strategy based on market insight

Lead activities required in a make vs buy decision for new and current production components

Lead negotiations and apply knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices, and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk

Establish and maintain sound professional relationships with suppliers.

Resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of service agreements

Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary

Communicate supplier performance including supplier visits as required
-
Mitigate and advise DRS stakeholders of changes in pricing that are cost-prohibitive; or lead times that are detrimental to production cycles and customer delivery requirements

Familiarity with Incoterms and international shipping standards

Support, communicate and defend the mission, values, and culture of the company
What you require to be successful in the role
-
Possession of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
-
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience leading a multi-discipline team in a manufacturing environment
-
Requires the ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, US and Canadian import and export, etc.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP platforms
-
Knowledge and use of price and cost analysis
-
Requires the ability to understand military specs and read blueprints
-
Strong negotiating skills
-
Excellent interpersonal, leadership and customer service skills
-
Strong respectful and professional communication skills (verbal and written)

Proactivity showing the ability to plan and coordinate effectively

Proven sound judgment on decision making
-
Able to respond quickly and meet deadlines under pressure
