Reporting to the Director of Investment Accounting Operations, the Manager, Transaction Management is responsible for leading and directing a team of analysts to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of North American and International securities investment transactions and related trade lifecycle events within the internal investment book of record. This leadership role requires a strong focus on team management, workflow optimization, and strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The Manager will also spearhead central initiatives and special projects across the Investment Accounting Operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team. Additionally, the Manager will represent the Transaction Management team in cross-functional projects, initiatives, and meetings, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Transaction Management team to ensure high performance and continuous professional growth. Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to team members, fostering an environment of collaboration and accountability.

  • Work closely with Senior team members in overseeing the timely, accurate, and complete processing of North American and International investment transactions for General Accounts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.

  • Proactively identify and resolve transaction processing issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Portfolio Managers, International and Third Party Investment Offices, and Investment Systems teams.

  • Drive data integrity and oversee the generation of accurate forecasts and accounting for various investments, ensuring the team adheres to established standards and controls.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement new procedures and controls, establishing processing standards while maintaining data integrity.

  • Partner with the General Account Operations Support Team and other units to implement new initiatives affecting securities operations, ensuring comprehensive process documentation, training, execution, and coordination with internal and external clients.

  • Identify and lead efforts for operational improvement through analysis and development of enhanced workflows to increase efficiency, setting benchmarks for success.

  • Ensure adherence to established SOX documentation and controls, conducting regular reviews of daily tasks and associated risks/controls as per team procedures.

  • Conduct regular performance assessments and provide feedback to team members, aligning their goals with organizational objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Represent the Transaction Management team in cross-functional projects, strategic initiatives, and meetings, ensuring that the team’s perspective and requirements are effectively communicated and incorporated.

  • Utilize strategic management skills to align team objectives with broader organizational goals, driving initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in business, finance, accounting, or mathematics. A professional designation such as CPA or CFA is considered an asset.

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in a back-office environment, with a strong focus on securities processing and investment accounting.

  • Proven leadership and people management experience, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Strong strategic management skills, with the ability to align team operations with organizational objectives and drive strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work experience with Life Insurance Operational General Accounting processes is an asset, including excellent knowledge and understanding of securities instruments, settlements, foreign exchange, banking processes, investment accounting principles, and related systems/processes.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail; adaptable to changing priorities.

  • Exceptional conceptual, diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise flexibility and sound judgment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to handle diverse client interactions using a service-oriented approach.

  • Successful completion or enrollment in the Canadian Securities Course or equivalent is an asset.

  • Familiarity with the Bloomberg system as a trading and information tool is an asset.

  • Demonstrated initiative and strong teamwork skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel and MS Word.

Bilingual (French & English) is required – The successful candidate will be required to communicate in English and French to support clients from various jurisdictions outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between

$83,250.00 CAD – $149,850.00 CAD
