Job Title Math InstructorJob DescriptionThe Math Teacher will instruct a non-credit senior high math equivalency course for international students enrolled in the Year One Foundation Program (‘Program’) located at the University of Alberta.Key job responsibilitiesReporting to the Program Director of the Year One Foundation Program, you will have responsibility for:Developing, delivering and maintaining course content, learning materials, and assessments for a face-to-face Math 30-1 equivalency courseDelivering course content in a student-centred, outcomes-based approachAddressing individual student needs and concerns both in and outside the classroom as appropriate to educational and institutional guidelinesMarking assessments promptly and providing comprehensive feedbackApplying culturally competent classroom management strategies to maintain an effective in-person learning environmentWorking with the Kaplan Student Success team to monitor and support students’ wellbeing and academic performanceAssist the Program Director in delivering excellent student outcomes.Minimum QualificationsRelated bachelor’s degree is requiredRelated instructional experience teaching at secondary or post-secondary levelsA passion for teaching and mentoringExperience teaching diverse students and sensitive to the needs of international studentsProficient in the use of learning technologiesExcellent classroom management and instructional skillsFamiliarity with Alberta senior high math curriculum is required; Alberta Teaching Certificate is an assetMaintaining respectful and professional relationships with students and colleaguesMust be authorized to work in CanadaOnce hired, mustBe aware of who is the designated safeguarding Lead for Kaplan LanguagesBe aware of how to identify safeguarding concerns and how to appropriately respond to theseComplete, in a timely fashion, any safeguarding training assigned to youReport any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the schoolAs a member of the school team, be responsible for all aspects of our students safeguarding and welfare in conjunction with the wider school and company management teamsMust pass a criminal background checkLocation and start dateYou will be based on site with the Program, situated on the North Campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
