Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionReporting to the Methods & Special Tooling Leader, the tooling design engineer is involved in the design of installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling, and lifting tools. Participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or being submitted.Responsibilities

• Analyze the technical information (technical specifications, scope of work, division of work).
• Responsible for the design of the site’s special tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget considering the EHS aspect.
• Plan the tooling design phase, follow-up and coordination with the project team.
• Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design is consistent with site installation methods.
• Optimize the tooling design or the machine to improve and reduce site installation time.
• Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings.
• Write reports and engineering documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals.
• Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of the site teams.
• Validate the costing of procedures and tooling during the tendering phase with other members of the Construction & Commissioning team.
• Responsible for the deliverables and budgets for their projects.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (open to Civil or Structural Engineering if they have the experience).
• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in tooling and methods engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as mining, heavy machinery, industrial conveyor systems.
• Experience in a role or partly in a role where hands-on manufacturing is required.
• P.Eng. with a Canadian Association or demonstrate a high level of expertise across the job requirements.
• Experience with 3D modelling software (NX is used, but other software experience is acceptable).
• Aptitude to drive to get information from other groups.
• 10% travel within North America.
• Intermediate knowledge of SmartSheet and Excel.

• Hydroelectric project experience.
• Electrical knowledge.
• Field engineering experience.
• Laser measurement skills.
• French language skills (asset only).
• Knowledge of welding and machining.

Work EnvironmentThe role involves working within a heavy industrial environment related to the manufacturing and refurbishment of large hydroelectric turbines. The work includes both desk and hands-on tasks, with 10% travel within North America. The team is stable, providing opportunities to gain experience in the hydropower sector. Intermediate knowledge of SmartSheet and Excel is required.
