Mechanical Engineer – Product Design

Our Edmonton Manufacturing client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer or Designer to join their team on a contract basis. The role is in their product design department.The project requires innovative mechanical engineering solutions to address specific challenges and standards such as meeting ASTM/CSA standards, customer driven requirements, and potential automation features.Advantages
Contract role – 6 months with possible extensionMentorship from Senior EngineersResponsibilities
– Review existing data and product specifications that could influence the design.– Perform market research and feasibility studies to identify technological gaps and innovative opportunities.– Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software.– Perform simulations and analysis (e.g., stress analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics) to validate design concepts.– Optimize the design for performance, safety, and manufacturability.– Fabricate a working prototype to demonstrate the functionality and design of the product.– Test the prototype under simulated operating conditions to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.– Provide comprehensive documentation of the design process, including calculations, material specifications, and testing results.– Manage the project timeline and resources to ensure deliverables are met according to the project schedule.– Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.Qualifications
– Mechanical Engineering Bachelors Degree– 3 to 5 years of Experience in Manufacturing Environment– Product Design Experience– Strong Knowledge of SolidWorksSummary
