What are your contributions to the team?
• Identify the full potential of the supplier’s product from a cost perspective, and guide the organization to focus on identified area of improvement.
• Reconstruct (estimate) cost of system and structure components/assemblies (using material cost, manufacturing/assembly process time, machine cost, integration cost, amortization, cycle time, labor etc.) to identify the reference cost in an optimal manufacturing environment.
• Identify waste related to suppliers’ manufacturing, design, processes, and supply chain.
• Support value engineering workshops with suppliers
• Report progress of intervention ideas to ensure that the procurement teams meet their cost reduction objectives.
• Guide the team on the projects with the most interesting return on investment for both Bombardier and its suppliers.
• Negotiate with Supplier senior management on their operations, cost structure & supply chain value.
• Define cost target for new products and provide cost control expertise on new design in order to meet business objectives.
• Develop cost intelligence & cost models to provide quick and accurate cost assessment to procurement, engineering and program teams during design creation and change management.
How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:
• You have Bachelor or a Technical Degree in Engineering, preferably in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or material and process engineering, with some knowledge of finance.
• You have at least 10 years of experience as a methods agent defining production charts, production instructions (cahiers), designing and optimizing production flows, delivering time cycle optimization and cost reduction initiatives for the operations.
• You have 5+ years of costing experience for composite and/or metallic parts and assemblies.
• You have the ability to analyze product and process costs (bill of material, raw material consumption, tools & machines costs, supporting functions, overheads).
• You have a deep understanding of a production center cost structure and understand the financial reporting of a profit and loss center.
• You are an expert in composite manufacturing and assembly processes, both for structural and interiors components.
• You have a good practice of metaling components manufacturing and assembly processes, both for primary and secondary structures
• You understands the most stringent requirements of interiors designs both for commercial and exclusive business aircraft.
• You are an expert in cost optimization methods (Design to Manufacture, Target Costing, Design to cost, Lean manufacturing etc.)
• You have a strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes as well as component fabrication techniques for diverse type of product (structure, systems, composite).
• You are naturally curious for technological improvement in your field of expertise and have a strong drive for your self-development.
• You have the ability to work on sensitive issues with suppliers’ top management in order to obtain mutually beneficial results.
• You have a very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• You are fluent in English and French, spoken and written.
• You are mobile: readiness for frequent traveling.
• You have a strong leadership and great flexibility, team spirit, action and result-oriented.
• You have the capacity to efficiently solve problems, motivate resources, and develop interpersonal relationships in a business context
