Position Title: Part Time/Partial Load Professor
Status: Part Time/Partial Load Professor (Winter Semester)
Faculty/Department: Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience as detailed in the collective agreement for academic employees.About the Role:The successful candidate(s) will be required to teach a variety of courses in the Occupational Therapist Assistant & Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) program at the North campus (subject areas may include anatomy, physiology or pathology; management of musculoskeletal, neurological, mental health, cardiovascular, and complex conditions; and ethics and professionalism). The incumbent will engage in a variety of activities that support teaching and learning and promote student success including: curriculum development; lesson planning; assessing student progress and achievement; and class management. Beyond their teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to establish an effective learning environment and work as a collaborative team member contributing to the overall direction of the program. In addition, the candidate may, from time to time, be called upon to contribute to student recruitment and the promotion and marketing of the program. These activities will require that the incumbent assist in the development and maintenance of strong industry connections and community partnerships. Lastly, the incumbent will be expected to participate on Humber Polytechnic and departmental committees and advance college initiatives.QualificationsAbout You:

  • The successful candidate must hold credentials at the graduate level, including a Degree in Occupational Therapy with a minimum of five years of work experience in occupational therapy.
  • Additionally, the incumbent must be a member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.

Experience/Skills

  • Beyond their experience in occupational therapy, the successful candidate must also have experience teaching adults in a clinical, community college and/or university setting where they have had the opportunity to develop their teaching practice, understand the learning process; and demonstrate their dedication to student success.
  • Due to the nature of this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent creativity, teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills, and evaluation abilities.
  • Experience teaching with e-learning (development and implementation) is an asset.
