  • A post-secondary diploma or certificate in paralegal studies from a recognized academic institution;
  • Experience conducting legal research and preparing documents such as legal memos, policies, reports, correspondence and briefing notes;
  • Experience assisting legal counsel with the preparation of materials to be used in legal files, including litigation cases, monitoring the progress of legal proceedings and filing the appropriate information in databases and filing systems;
  • Experience providing exemplary service to clients and other team members rendering them more efficient in their work;
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities in both official languages;
  • Knowledge of legal sources in print, electronic databases and on the Internet to conduct legal research and the ability to provide timely and relevant information to legal counsel;
  • Strong organization and administrative skills needed to maintain various files and registries;
  • A valid paralegal license in one of the provinces or territories of Canada would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Senate, the Canadian parliamentary system and parliamentary law would be an asset.
