Mulgrave is one of Canada’s leading independent co-educational pre-K – 12 day schools, serving the North Shore of Vancouver. We are an established IB Continuum World School with a reputation for excellence and innovation. We are now seeking a PreK Teacher to start in August 2025.

Reporting to the Early Years Principal, the Early Years PK Teacher will be open-minded, flexible, and collaborative. Embracing the school’s mission and values and fostering an inclusive learning space are vital aspects of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

These may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborating with a co-teacher, plan and implement the academic and social-emotional learning programme for a PK3 or PK4 class
  • Keep up to date with developments in the IB PYP, including teaching resources and methods
  • Participate in collaborative planning and reflection meetings
  • Foster students’ independence and self-management skills, as developmentally appropriate
  • Ensure the safety of children with special needs, including allergies, neurodivergence, and medical conditions
  • Conduct age-appropriate assessments to prepare report cards and conduct parent-teacher conferences as per the annual school calendar
  • Be available to meet parents when requested and foster open and supportive communications between school and home 
  • Assist with prospective student assessments on one or two weekend days per year
  • Perform duties such as before- and after-school care
  • Maintain regular records on the school’s Learning Management System
  • Engage in regular professional development, especially to maintain Early Childhood Certification
  • Support the school in maintaining a classroom environment that follows the regulations and meets the requirements set by Vancouver Coastal Health and the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care

All Mulgrave teachers are expected to:

  • Develop a classroom environment that builds positive relationships and fosters an ethic of care
  • Design, prepare and deliver learning activities that facilitate authentic engagement
  • Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs 
  • Use relevant technology to enhance instruction and learning
  • Design and implement a range of authentic formative and summative assessments, providing appropriate and timely feedback to students
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting
  • Participate in faculty and parent meetings and special events
  • Model respectful and timely communication with students, colleagues and parents
  • Attend professional development workshops as required by the school
  • Understand that working hours may occasionally extend beyond 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Endorse the school’s mission and values 
  • Support Mulgrave’s events especially those related to the Early Years

Qualifications:

Candidates will be expected to:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with 3 and 4 year olds
  • Hold current ECE certification 
  • Hold an age-appropriate First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain one.

Preferred Experience/Qualities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate programmes, preferably with experience teaching in the Primary Years Programme

Work hours:

  • 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with the understanding that these may occasionally extend beyond 4:00 pm 
  • Hours may vary slightly
