Job Title: Principal Hardware DesignerJob DescriptionOur client in Ottawa is looking to hire a remote experienced hardware design engineer who has experience with designing optical transceivers. Their design engineering group provides end-to-end product development solutions, including test and measurement modules, 4&5G macro frequency variants, optical transceivers, and optical sub-assemblies. The team handles projects from concept to volume manufacturing. We are seeking a Principal Hardware Designer for optical transceivers. This position involves collaborating with a cross-functional team.Responsibilities

• Lead hardware design of optical transceivers from concept to pre-production.
• Contribute to all phases of the product development cycle.
• Understand and document electrical and optical requirements.
• Interface with various engineering teams.
• Review high-speed interface simulations.
• Lead design reviews.
• Troubleshoot and improve yield.
• Resolve DFM issues and ensure compliance.

Essential Skills

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering. M.S or Ph.D. is considered an asset.
• 10+ years of work experience in hardware design of an optical transceiver (experience with at least 400GB transceivers, preferably 800).
• Experience in leading design reviews and understanding system design.
• Experience in RF design using modeling tools such as CST or HFSS.
• Familiarity with high-speed (RF) and optoelectronic devices: drivers, modulators, lasers, detectors, TIA, CDR/DSP, and equalization.
• Work experience with optical components and transceiver test methodologies.
• Knowledge of various optical transceivers in CWDM and DWDM networks.
• Familiarity with industry standards including IEEE Ethernet standards, OIF standards, and various MSAs.
• Great communication skills to engage with customers.

Work EnvironmentThe ideal candidate would be able to work onsite in Ottawa 5 days a week.
