Job Description:The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the activities of the production team by organizing, scheduling and coordinating work flow to enhance productivity output. Monitor and coach employees to produce the highest quality products as efficiently as possible while adhering to corporate health and safety policies.Principal Responsibilities
Verify and update MES (Hydra) information as required. Monitor all defects at every workstation and communicate with Operators, Process Technician and Quality Control to ensure timely corrections
Conduct performance reviews and build personal development plans for all direct reports. Provide mentorship and counselling when required.
Collaborate with workers and managers to reduce downtime, maintain efficient use of labour and achieve objectives set for the plant
Plan daily work schedules and assign duties to maintain efficient use of labour accordingly
Update Kronos as the need arises for attendance for reporting team
Provide and replace operator’s tools and equipment as required to keep morale and production efficiency high
Assist Process Technician with machine alarms and fix issue(s) as much as possible. Relay machine issues to Maintenance or Mould and Setup if required
Facilitate and communicate use or completion of various forms for employees and status updates from Production Manager or Human Resources. Relay new information accordingly
Update various reports daily including Hydra, Transition Logs, Shift Performance Summary, and Cycle Times. Discuss reports at morning meetings as required
Complete new employee 30 / 60 / 90 day evaluations, orientation checklists and OJT form as required
Ensure that finished product is manufactured in compliance with the Corporate Quality Control Manual and ISO procedures
Check specifications of materials loaded or unloaded against information contained in production work orders
Minimize raw material inventory and variance by optimizing the use of regrind material, minimizing scrap rates, and minimizing unrecoverable scrap
Assist in the start-up and troubleshooting of process related problems with production equipment, tooling and auxiliary equipment
Rotate employees based on daily job demands as much as applicable. Maintain equal opportunities for all employees to learn and develop new skills
Participate in hiring process of new employees
Conduct trials for new production tools or equipment. Record results and discuss with Production Manager about suitability for implementation
Meet established cost standards for use of raw materials, utilities, personnel, and supplies. Contribute to plant cost reduction effort
Coordinate with Quality Control for any quality issues and Maintenance for any repairs or troubleshooting in the expertise of Maintenance
Prepare and conduct bi-weekly pre-shift and quarterly employee meetings
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
Requirements:
Completion of High School or equivalent management/supervisory experience required
College/University in Logistics or Supply Chain Management an asset
3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing
Experience and familiarity of ISO 9001 requirements and processes in relation to production an asset
Technical understanding of production planning techniques, basic understanding of quality management standards, lean manufacturing and safety requirements/laws (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.)
Knowledge of plastic injection molding manufacturing business is an asset
Excellent motivational, leadership, coaching, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Able to coordinate and organize multiple responsibilities at the same time
Able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
Strong time management and organization skills and able to deal with varying levels of complexity
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Basic business communication skills
Knowledge of ERP and MES
